Since graduating from Keio University, Etsuko Shirasaka joined Theatre Company Caramelbox in Tokyo in 1995 and has been involved in over 40 productions as assistant director/co-director. In 2000 and 2002, she studied theatre at Rose Bruford College in UK. Director credits include “Arlechinno, A Servant ofTtwo Masters” (2012) and “The Good Person of Szechwan” (2015) produced by Anemoi Program and “Tabineko Report” (2013) and “Here Comes the Sun” (2014) produced by Sky Rocket. Acting credits include “Sotoba Komachi” (2004), “The Damask Dram” (2004) and “Hanjo” (2009) produced by StoneCrabs Theatre Company in UK. In 2016, Etsuko was awarded a grant from the Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs towards her research on British Contemporary Theatre and co-curated and co-produced ‘Japanese Contemporary Plays and Playwrights series, Winds of Change’ with Yellow Earth and StoneCrabs. Etsuko is the founder and producer of Busu Theatre Company.
